Dr. Reeves Performs First Three KAMRA Procedures For Reader's Vision

Tuesday, December 15, 2015

Dr. Donnie Reeves of The Reeves Eye Institute has successfully completed three procedures for Upper East Tennessee patients to help them reduce or eliminate the need for reading glasses. The Reeves Eye Institute is the first ophthalmology practice in the area to offer the new KAMRA™ Lens Inlay, which was created to help people avoid the use of readers. KAMRA addresses presbyopia, or reader's vision, which occurs in almost everyone as we age. The eye's lens loses some of its focal ability, requiring the use of reading glasses for close vison.

The KAMRA procedure, which has been used successfully in Europe for many years, was recently approved by the FDA in the U.S. Dr. Reeves first uses new eye-scanning technology to determine if you’re a candidate for the procedure and how it could improve your vision. If you are a candidate, he then can perform a laser procedure where a special lens is inserted into your eye. (You have the option of having the lens removed later).

With the KAMRA Lens Inlay, you are able to see up close again. Read text messages, a computer screen, or the time on your watch, without having to fumble around for your readers.

The KAMRA Lens Inlay is ideal for active people who also need to see close objects, or people whose professions require close work where glasses aren’t always practical. It is important to understand there may be times when additional magnification is needed for small print, to see in dim light, or to perform a near task for an extended period of time.
